Join IBEW Local 520's Electrical Apprenticeship

The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 520 seeks apprentices to join our ranks of quality, licensed electricians.

Apprentices learn the trade while earning a living for themselves and their families. Additionally, they receive excellent health insurance and retirement benefits, providing a total overall package better than that offered by most non-union electrical contractors.

Apprenticeship is a great form of education, which allows a pathway to living a middle class lifestyle.

Building your skills through a comprehensive apprenticeship curriculum

Our apprenticeship training follows the earn while you learn model, meaning apprentices learn the trade on the job while earning a paycheck.

While working for the Local’s signatory contractors, apprentices learn the tricks of the trade from skilled and experienced journeymen. Not only do the journeymen teach apprentices how to perform their work, but they help them learn how to work efficiently, completing quality work on time and doing it right the first time.

Besides learning on-the-job, apprentices also receive mandatory classroom instruction. Held at our state-of-the-art training facility in Austin, classes are led by accredited professionals, who have spent years in the trade and are now dedicated to preparing the next generation of IBEW members.
