IBEW Local 520 - Electricians

Attention members: Get rewarded for recommending a licensed electrician to IBEW 520

A new program will reward IBEW Local 520 members who help recruit journeyman licensed, non-union electricians to the Local.

Local 520 recently launched our new member referral program after distributing new member referral cards at recent union meetings.

Individuals who have been a Local 520 member in good standing for at least one year are eligible to receive a $250 award if they refer a journeyman licensed, non-union electrician to the Local and that individual remains employed with a Local 520 contractor for 90 days and both members are completely paid up on dues.

In order for the member to receive the award, the potential member must bring a member referral card with your signature and union card number on it to the Union Hall or the existing member must email an organizer before the new member makes membership. Claims will not be accepted after the new member has already made membership. If you have not received any referral cards, please come to the Union Hall or contact an organizer.

It is important for all IBEW 520 members to contribute to our organizing effort. The more members we are able to bring into the Local, the stronger our union becomes.

Also, the journeyman licensed electricians who join Local 520 are eligible for various incentives, depending on experience level and current employment situation. It is important to inform the potential new member about this, as it may be enough to entice them to join.

New licensed journeymen will receive $500 after three months of employment with a Local 520 contractor and will receive an additional $500 after six months of employment.

The rate is higher for individuals with foreman experience. Licensed journeymen with two or more years of experience will receive $700 if they are hired by a Local 520 contractor as a foreman. They will receive another $700 after six months of employment as a foreman.

Current Tumlinson Electric licensed journeymen, foremen, estimators, administrators and project managers are eligible for higher incentives.

Tumlinson Electric licensed journeymen will receive $1,000 after six months of employment with a Local 520 contractor and another $1,000 after one year of employment.

Tumlinson Electric foremen, who are hired by a Local 520 contractor, are eligible for $1,500 after six months of employment and an additional $1,500 after one year of employment.

Estimators who work for Tumlinson Electric are eligible for $1,000 after six months with a Local 520 contractor and an additional $1,000 after one year of employment.

Tumlinson Electric administrators are eligible for $1,000 after six months of employment with a Local 520 contractor. They are eligible for another $1,000 after one year of employment.

Tumlinson Electric project managers are eligible for $1,500 after six months of employment with a Local 520 contractor and an additional $1,500 after a year of employment.

This program was designed to grow Local 520, secure work and support your health and welfare funds. Many of us know a journeyman licensed, non-union electrician. Help us fill our ranks with highly skilled tradesmen and tradeswomen.
